WORKSHOPS ABOUT SHAME AND TACKLING IT THROUGH TENDERNESS
WHEN: 16 OCTOBER 2022
DURATION: 3H
AGE GROUPS: 10—14, 15—19 and 20—26
WHERE: PAŁAC POTOCKICH, KRAKOW, POLAND EVENT: All About TENDERNESS / Olga Tokarczuk / Contexts International Scientific Conference organised by Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University
WORKSHOPS:
"The conference was inspired by bell hooks’ book All About Love, and the title of the conference itself commemorates the American feminist, cultural theorist, and writer, who systematically undertook the critique of the most popular notions of love in society, history, and cultural discourses. Her critical method and her research guided by sensitivity to injustices and inequality can be read hand-in-hand with Olga Tokarczuk’s oeuvre."
The conference was accompanied by workshops aimed towards discussing tenderness through various methods. Invited to propose our take on it, we prepared exercises designed to explore how shame can be tackled through tenderness, and how both of them co-relate with self-image and compassion towards others. The workshops were delivered for 3 age groups: 10—14, 15—19 and 20—26.
